Zachary BealΒ – Director of Stretch
Hi there, I’m Zac , and I bring years of experience in fitness, athletic training, and client wellness to my role as Director of Stretch at Parkway. With a background in personal training, corrective exercise, and team leadership across top fitness facilities in Las Vegas and California, I specialize in helping clients improve mobility, prevent injuries, and enhance overall performance through evidence-based stretching and corrective techniques.
Outside of the gym, some of the passions that have led me to continue and thrive in the fitness industry include playing and coaching many competitive sports such as football, track and field, volleyball, and basketball. I did bodybuilding when I was younger which really set in my passion for fitness. On top of that, I am an avid snowboarder and outdoorsman. I have trained under a world champion boxer which in turn has led me to become a trainer for boxing as well.
I look forward to being an integral part of the gym community that Parkway Athletic Club has established. I look forward to putting my entire skill set to use here in southwest Reno. I am always around, so stop by and say hi.

Flexibility vs. Mobility: Whatβs the Difference?
These two terms are often confused, but they mean different things:
β
Flexibility β the ability of a muscle to lengthen passively.
Example: pulling your leg into a stretch with your hand.
β
Mobility β the ability of a joint to move actively through its range with control.
Example: lifting your leg to the same height on your own.
In short:
Flexibility = Passive range
Mobility = Active control through range
You can be flexible without being mobile β but true, functional movement requires both.
Training mobility improves joint health, movement quality, and injury prevention β helping you move and perform better for life.

π§ Shoulder Health = Longevity in Movement
This week weβre focusing on keeping your shoulders strong, mobile, and pain-free.
These four movements target stability, control, and flexibility through every angle of motion:
πΉ Wall Angels β improve posture and scapular control
πΉ Sleeper Stretch β loosen internal rotation for better overhead movement
πΉ T, Y, & A Raises β strengthen your rotator cuff and postural muscles
πΉ Internal / External Rotations β build shoulder stability and joint integrity
π‘ Remember: healthy shoulders arenβt just about stretching β theyβre about balance between mobility and strength.
Keep moving better, lifting better, and feeling better.

Mobility Monday π
Tight shoulders? Grab a dowel rod and get moving!
Dowel mobility drills are one of the best ways to:
β
Improve shoulder range of motion
β
Activate stabilizing muscles
β
Reduce stiffness from training or sitting
Focus on slow, controlled movement β the goal is quality, not speed.
Healthy shoulders move freely and pain-free πͺ

Mobility isnβt just about stretching β itβs about moving better, feeling stronger, and staying pain-free.
This weekβs tip: try 90/90 hip rotations to open up tight hips and improve lower body stability.
β
3 sets of 8 slow rotations per side
π‘ Focus on smooth transitions, not speed
Small, consistent work = major improvements in how you move.
